TGCW meets the third Saturday of every month at 10:00 a.m. Meetings are held at the RC Miller Public Library, 1605 Dowlen Rd., Beaumont, TX  77706. Come join us!

January 26 - Due to the MLK holiday, the library will be closed for our regularly scheduled weekend. We will meet instead on the 26th for - New plans, opportunities, formatting, and more.

2018 Meeting Schedule

January 20 - New plans, opportunities, formatting, and more.

February 17 - Merrilynn Williams will offer a short lesson, followed by directed writing practice and work on submissions for the next FIRST LINE magazine with the prompt: "I wanted you to be the first to know," Rowan tentatively confided in me." 

March 17 - Members who attend the Jambalaya Writers Conference will share their favorite lessons and memories from the event. Writing practice and critiques will follow.

April 21 -- In honor of National Poetry month, this meeting will be dedicated to writing poetry in all forms. Merrilyn Williams and Dorothy Clover will lead this poetry share.

May 19 - Sylvia Ney will talk about "Setting Goals and Writing Short".

June 16 - Dianne Ellis and Melinda Pouncey will lead the lesson on rewriting and proofreading. Visitors from Vidor Pet Quarterly.

July 21 - Member Critiques and reviewing submission guidelines.

August 18 - M. Williams will share valuable tips and stories from the SFA Writers workshop led by the Writers League.

September 15 - Member readings and critiques.

October 20 - Member news, critiques, and work on individualized projects with support.

November 17 - Becka Oliver, agent, from Austin Texas League of Writers will be speaking on "Understanding Publishing Today".

December 15 - Christmas cheer and planning for 2019.



2017 Meeting Schedule

January 21 - Merrilynn Williams will lead a short exercise after leading discussion and business of group plans for 2017.

February 18 - Sylvia Ney on writing Scifi.

March 18 - Dianne Ellis on news from Jambalaya Writer's Conference

April 15 - Poetry workshop with Elzadia Meguess. (This meeting will be held at the Apostolic Church at 3333 Eastex Freeway since the library is closed for Easter weekend.)

May 20 - Sylvia Ney on "Being a Prolific Writer" - Market news, Writing Practice, and Critiques.
